Tools for myself
If I want a tool, I like trying to build it myself.
DANIEL DE BROCK · SNEEK
I’m Daniel, a software engineer in Sneek. I like building things, tinkering with AI and gaming late at night. This site is one of my hobby projects.
A LITTLE ABOUT ME
An idea can keep me busy until I build it. Usually on the sofa, making a tool for myself or a website to practise my frontend skills. Some projects get finished. Others get interrupted by the next idea.
A little about my workIf I want a tool, I like trying to build it myself.
This site is also a place to practise my frontend skills.
I say what I think, including when I can’t help with something.
This site is something I work on in my spare time.
MY WORK
I’ve worked at Indiveo for around ten years. We help people understand information when they’re in a vulnerable situation. I build the platform and keep it scalable and maintainable.
I feel responsible for what we build. When something goes wrong, I look at the impact and how we can move forward.
Meet IndiveoExpanding the platform is what I enjoy most: making something that helps its users.
If the cause isn’t clear yet, how long can we keep investigating? And when do we need another solution?
I say it when I can’t solve something or it belongs elsewhere.
WHAT I WORK ON
Making complex information easier to understand.
Software with a purpose
Clear visual explanations for healthcare and the social domain. Indiveo turns complex information into something people can understand and use, especially when they’re in a vulnerable situation.
AI & A LITTLE CURIOSITY
I like tinkering with AI. Sometimes for a tool I want to build, sometimes just to see what happens.
I also train small models for fun. Try something, see what happens and change a few things. There doesn’t have to be a finished product at the end.
Some experiments stay experiments.
OFF THE CLOCK
I watch films and series with my girlfriend. Later in the evening, when everyone is asleep, I like gaming to unwind. And there’s usually a personal coding project somewhere in the mix.
WITH THE FAMILY
At weekends we’re often out with the family: a zoo, a museum or a play park. Away from the screen for a while.
